Overview

Pilot Navigator E604 stairlift front view with the seat folded up

A curved stairlift by Pilot, the home access line of Merits, with a twin rail built to order for your staircase. Rated for riders up to 265 lbs, or 350 lbs with the heavy duty option. Battery powered, with a folding swivel seat, five safety sensors and indoor and outdoor models.

Final sale. The Navigator rail is built to order for one staircase from a survey of your stairs, so it cannot be returned, refunded or exchanged because you change your mind or decide not to install it. This does not affect your rights if the lift is defective, damaged in shipping, the wrong item, does not match the approved survey or is not as described, or your rights under the Merits warranty.

The Pilot Navigator E604 is a curved stairlift with a twin rail that is built to order for one staircase. It suits stairs that turn a corner, pass a landing or wind in a spiral, which a straight stairlift cannot follow. Pilot is the home access line of Merits Health Products, the Fort Myers, Florida company behind the Merits and Avid power chairs and scooters.

Every Navigator starts with a photo survey of your stairs. Pilot bends the rail to match it using 3D tube bending, which cuts down on joints in the track for a smoother ride. Most staircases can be surveyed in 30 minutes or less, and the twin rail sits close to the wall to leave more room on the stairs.

The standard Navigator carries riders up to 265 lbs. The heavy duty option raises that to 350 lbs and adds an LCD status display and spoken alerts, including a reminder when the chair has been left off its charging station.

Key Features

  • Rail built to order for your curved staircase
  • 265 lb weight capacity, 350 lbs with the heavy duty option
  • Handles inclines from flat up to 52 degrees
  • Keeps running on battery during a power outage
  • Seat and footplate fold together in one motion
  • Swivel seat with a retractable seat belt
  • LED light on the carriage to light the stairs
  • Five safety sensors, an overspeed governor and a motor brake
  • Steep start option takes as little as 11 in at the bottom landing
  • Five rail colors, six upholstery colors and an outdoor model

Built for your staircase

Because each rail is made for one set of stairs, the Navigator can follow inside and outside turns, intermediate landings, fan shaped steps and spirals. The rail can run flat along a landing as well as up the steps. With the steep start option, the bottom of the track takes up as little as 11 inches at the lower landing, so it is less likely to block a doorway or hallway.

Smooth and quiet travel

A rack and pinion drive moves the chair at about 20 feet per minute, with soft start and stop so the ride does not jerk at either end. The seat and footplate fold up together in one motion when you step off, which keeps the stairs clear for everyone else in the house.

Safety on every ride

Five safety sensors stop the lift if it meets an obstruction. Switches on the armrests and swivel seat keep it from moving unless both are in the riding position, an overspeed governor and motor brake hold the chair, and a key switch locks it. The Navigator meets the ASME A18.1 and A17.5 safety standards for stairway chairlifts.

Battery power and backup

The Navigator runs on rechargeable 24 volt batteries that charge at the charging stations along the rail. It keeps working through a power outage, and sleep mode holds the charge for up to 20 days when the lift is left off charge.

Outdoor model

The outdoor Navigator is weatherized for outside steps. It comes with two lockable wall boxes for the remotes, a weatherproof charger box and a weather resistant cover for when it is not in use. The heavy duty option is available on the outdoor model too.

Will it fit my stairs?

The Navigator is for staircases that are not one straight run. If your stairs go straight from bottom to top with no turn or landing, the Pilot Aviator E603 straight stairlift is the simpler fit.

How do I get a price on the Pilot Navigator E604?

Call us at 1-888-233-5563 for a quote. The price depends on your staircase and the options you pick, so we go over those with you first.

Every Navigator rail is made for one staircase, so the first step is a photo survey of your stairs. Call us and we will explain how the survey works and what happens after it.

What options are available?
  • Heavy duty package with 350 lb capacity, LCD display and spoken alerts
  • Weatherized outdoor model
  • Steep start for a short footprint at the bottom landing
  • Five rail colors (Pure White, Oyster White, Beige Brown, Silk Gray and Flat Black)
  • Six upholstery colors (Beige, Black, Dark Brown, Gray, Light Brown and Red)
Does Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance help pay for the Pilot Navigator E604?

Merits lists no Medicare HCPCS code for Pilot stairlifts, and we do not bill Medicare or private insurance directly. Some plans help with home access equipment, so it is worth calling yours to ask. If they say yes, we are happy to provide an invoice and proof of purchase so you can file for reimbursement.

Who installs the Pilot Navigator E604?

Your stairlift is installed in your home by a local installer approved by Pilot. A stairlift has to be fitted to your staircase and installed correctly to be safe, so call us before you order and we will explain how installation is arranged for your address.

Can I return the Pilot Navigator E604?

No. The Navigator is a final sale because its rail is built to order for your staircase and cannot be used on any other stairs. We cannot take it back, refund it or exchange it because you change your mind, your plans change or you decide not to install it.

That does not affect your rights if the lift arrives damaged, is defective, is the wrong item, does not match the approved survey of your stairs or is not as described. Those are covered by the Merits warranty and by law, and we will work with you and Merits to put it right.
