Overview

Ranger Capri folding power wheelchair, front view

The Ranger Capri is a folding power wheelchair sized for children and petite adults, with a 14 in seat that widens as the rider grows and a footplate, backrest, armrests and seat height that all adjust. It weighs 54 lbs with its battery, folds in one motion to 22 x 29.3 x 14.9 in and goes up to 18 miles with two batteries.

The Capri is built on the same platform as the Quattro family and scaled down for smaller riders. The seat starts at 14 in wide and widens as the armrests expand, the footplate extends in height and length, and the backrest, armrests and seat height all adjust, so the fit can follow a child for years rather than months.

It folds in one motion to 22 x 29.3 x 14.9 in and rolls on its own wheels like carry on luggage, so it slides into most trunks and stows in a closet or a cruise cabin. It weighs 54 lbs with a battery fitted. A fitted travel bag comes with it, and the maker describes the 240 Wh lithium batteries as airline approved, with a battery test certificate available on request.

Twin 250W brushless motors give a top speed of 4 mph, and electromagnetic brakes engage the moment the joystick is released and hold the chair on slopes up to 14 degrees. The 30 in turning radius suits classrooms, kitchens and hallways. The joystick mounts on the left or the right, or moves to the push bar so a parent or caregiver can drive.

A pediatric power chair needs to fit the child, so we suggest going through the seat, footplate and backrest measurements with the child's therapist or clinician before you order. Call us and we will check the numbers with you.

Built to Grow With the Rider

Most pediatric chairs are outgrown. On the Capri the armrests expand to widen the seat, the footplate extends in height and length, and the backrest, armrests and seat height all adjust. The maker does not publish the adjustment ranges, so call us with the rider's measurements and we will check whether the Capri covers them now and with room to grow.

For School, Travel and Home

The flip up armrests and footplate let a rider pull up to a desk or a table and make side transfers easier. The LED path light, voice prompts and USB port are standard, and the under seat bag and rear compartment hold a day's things. Folded, the chair rolls through an airport or a cruise terminal on its own wheels.

How It Compares

The Capri is the only chair in this range sized for children. The adult Ranger Quattro it shares its platform with has an 18.5 in seat and 300W motors. For a petite adult who wants the lightest option instead, the Ranger Aero weighs 26 lbs without batteries and carries 265 lbs, though its seat does not adjust.

Warranty

What does the Ranger Capri warranty cover?

The Ranger Capri is covered by Porto Mobility's standard warranty, since Porto does not list separate terms for this model. Those standard terms cover the frame for 3 years and the electronics and batteries for 1 year.

Porto does not cover damage from abuse, such as taking it through deep water or dropping it. When a covered part fails, Porto sends the replacement part and connects you with a local service provider for the repair. If something goes wrong, contact us first and we will take the claim to Porto's technical team for you.

What age or size is the Ranger Capri for?

The maker sizes it for children and petite adults, starting from a 14 in seat that widens as the armrests expand. It does not publish an age range or a weight capacity, so call us with the rider's measurements and weight and we will confirm the fit with the manufacturer.

How much does the Ranger Capri weigh?

54 lbs with a battery fitted. The maker does not list the weight without the battery. Folded, it rolls on its own wheels, so most of the time you pull it rather than lift it.

How far does the Ranger Capri go on a charge?

Up to about 9 miles on one 240 Wh battery and up to 18 miles with two. Rider weight, hills and cold weather all reduce that, so plan long days with some range in reserve.

Can I take the Ranger Capri on a plane?

The maker describes the batteries as airline approved and offers a battery test certificate on request. Each battery is 240 watt hours, which is the figure most airlines ask for, and a fitted travel bag comes with the chair. Confirm with your airline before you book.

How do I order the Ranger Capri?

Add it to your cart on this page and check out, which takes a few minutes. You can pay in full or choose Klarna to spread the cost over monthly payments.

Can I order the Ranger Capri over the phone?

Yes. Call 1-888-233-5563 and we will place the order with you. All we need is your payment method and your shipping address. Extra batteries and other accessories for the Ranger Capri can be added to a phone order.

Does Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance help pay for the Ranger Capri?

We do not work with Medicare and we do not bill private insurance directly. Some private plans will reimburse you after you buy, so it is worth calling your insurer to ask. If they say yes, we are happy to provide an invoice and proof of purchase so you can file for reimbursement.

Notice to Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries. Medicare pays for equipment only when the supplier has a Medicare supplier number. Heavy Duty Mobility does not have one, so Medicare will not pay for anything we sell you. You are personally and fully responsible for payment.

What comes with the Ranger Capri?
  • Fitted travel bag

If you want to check the box contents before you buy, call us and we will confirm them.

How long until my Ranger Capri arrives?

The Ranger Capri ships direct from the manufacturer, which quotes delivery in about 1 to 5 business days for models in stock. We email you the expected ship date after you order. If you need it by a certain day, call us before you buy and we will check the timing.

Will I get tracking?

Yes. As soon as your order ships we email you a tracking link so you can follow it to your door.

Can I return the Ranger Capri?

Yes, within 30 days of delivery, as long as it comes back in new condition in its original boxes with all of its parts. A 15% restocking fee applies. You prepay the return shipping, and the original shipping charges are not refunded, so keep the boxes until you are sure. Items sold as open box cannot be returned.

Warranty problems are handled separately and do not count as a return. Please read the full returns policy for the details.

How do I adjust the Capri as the child grows?

The armrests expand to widen the seat, the footplate extends in height and length, and the backrest, armrests and seat height adjust. Have the fit checked by the child's therapist when you set it up and again as they grow. Call us if you want to go through the adjustments before you order.

How does the Capri fold?

It folds in one motion to 22 x 29.3 x 14.9 in and then rolls on its own wheels, so you pull it along like a suitcase rather than carrying 54 lbs. The fitted travel bag goes over it for flights.

How do I charge it?

Charge on the chair, or use the adapter cable to charge a battery off the chair indoors. Each battery gives up to about 9 miles, and two together give up to 18. Extra batteries are available by phone.

Where can the Capri go?

The electromagnetic brakes hold on slopes up to 14 degrees, so treat that as the limit and take any slope slowly and straight on. Dual spring suspension and 8 in front casters soften sidewalks and school corridors. The maker publishes no water resistance rating, so keep the chair out of rain and standing water.

Can a parent drive it?

Yes. The joystick moves from the armrest to the push bar, so a parent or caregiver can drive from behind while the child rides. Keep the speed low in crowds, and switch the joystick back to the armrest when the child drives.

Will it fit in my car?

Folded, it measures 22 x 29.3 x 14.9 in and weighs 54 lbs with a battery in, and the maker says it slides into most trunks. Measure your trunk opening against those figures, and take the battery out if you want less weight to lift.

Can I fly with it?

The maker describes the 240 Wh lithium batteries as airline approved and will provide a battery test certificate on request. Airlines set their own limits, so give yours the 240 Wh figure and the number of batteries and confirm before you book.

How is my chair delivered?

Delivery to your curb is free. Check the packaging and the chair before you sign for it, and call 1-888-233-5563 if anything looks wrong.

Can I pay over time?

Yes. Choose Klarna at checkout to pay over time. See how financing works.

Can I talk to someone before I buy?

Yes. Call 1-888-233-5563. Real people answer, business hours and weekends.
