Overview

Ranger Maestro XL reclining folding power wheelchair, angled rear view from the left

The Ranger Maestro XXL is the widest chair in the Maestro line, with a 24 in seat, a 440 lb weight capacity and a reclining backrest worked by a handle at the rider's side. It folds in about 5 seconds without coming apart, rides on four shock absorbers and is driven by two 250W motors.

The Maestro XXL takes the reclining Maestro and widens the seating platform to 24 in for larger riders. The backrest reclines with an easy reach handle at the side of the chair, so the rider can change position through the day without help. The seat cushion is memory foam under a breathable mesh cover that comes off for washing, and the chair is rated for riders up to 440 lbs.

The frame is aircraft grade aluminum alloy with a weather resistant finish. It folds in about 5 seconds with nothing to take apart, and a handle under the seat gives you something to hold when you lift it into a trunk. Four shock absorbers, two in front and two at the rear, take the edge off grass, gravel and uneven pavement, and two 250W motors drive the large rear wheels.

The maker has not published the weight, range, top speed or folded size of the XXL. The standard Maestro and the Maestro XL are listed at 50 and 52 lbs without batteries with up to 18 miles per charge, and we confirm the XXL figures with the manufacturer before you order.

Who the Maestro XXL Suits

The XXL is for a rider who needs more seat width than the 19 in Maestro or the 21 in Maestro XL offers and still wants a chair that reclines and folds for the car. Like the other Maestro chairs it is rated for 440 lbs, so the extra width is the reason to choose it, not extra capacity.

How It Compares

All three Maestro chairs recline, carry 440 lbs and use two 250W motors. The seat is 19 in wide on the Maestro, 21 in on the XL and 24 in on the XXL. The Maestro and the XL are listed at 50 and 52 lbs without batteries, and the maker has not yet published a weight for the XXL. The Quattro XXL and Discovery XXL also have 24 in seats, but neither of those reclines.

What is the difference between the Ranger Maestro XXL and the Maestro XL?

The XXL has a 24 in seat and the XL has a 21 in seat. Both recline with a handle at the rider's side, carry 440 lbs, fold in about 5 seconds and use two 250W motors. The XL is listed at 52 lbs without batteries, and the maker has not published a weight for the XXL.

Does the Ranger Maestro XXL recline?

Yes. The backrest reclines in small steps with an easy reach handle at the side of the chair, so the rider can shift position for pressure relief without help. The maker does not list a recline angle.

How much weight can the Ranger Maestro XXL carry?

It is rated for riders up to 440 lbs, the same as the Maestro and Maestro XL. If you need more capacity, the Ranger Magnum is rated for 660 lbs and The Beast for 500 lbs, though neither of those reclines.

How do I order the Ranger Maestro XXL?

Add it to your cart on this page and check out, which takes a few minutes. You can pay in full or choose Klarna to spread the cost over monthly payments.

Can I order the Ranger Maestro XXL over the phone?

Yes. Call 1-888-233-5563 and we will place the order with you. All we need is your payment method and your shipping address. Extra batteries and other accessories for the Ranger Maestro XXL can be added to a phone order.

Does Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance help pay for the Ranger Maestro XXL?

We do not work with Medicare and we do not bill private insurance directly. Some private plans will reimburse you after you buy, so it is worth calling your insurer to ask. If they say yes, we are happy to provide an invoice and proof of purchase so you can file for reimbursement.

Notice to Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries. Medicare pays for equipment only when the supplier has a Medicare supplier number. Heavy Duty Mobility does not have one, so Medicare will not pay for anything we sell you. You are personally and fully responsible for payment.

What comes with the Ranger Maestro XXL?

Call us before you buy and we will confirm exactly what comes in the box.

How long until my Ranger Maestro XXL arrives?

The Ranger Maestro XXL ships direct from the manufacturer, which quotes delivery in about 1 to 5 business days for models in stock. We email you the expected ship date after you order. If you need it by a certain day, call us before you buy and we will check the timing.

Will I get tracking?

Yes. As soon as your order ships we email you a tracking link so you can follow it to your door.

Can I return the Ranger Maestro XXL?

Yes, within 30 days of delivery, as long as it comes back in new condition in its original boxes with all of its parts. A 15% restocking fee applies. You prepay the return shipping, and the original shipping charges are not refunded, so keep the boxes until you are sure. Items sold as open box cannot be returned.

Warranty problems are handled separately and do not count as a return. Please read the full returns policy for the details.

How do I recline the backrest?

Use the handle at the side of the chair to release the backrest, lean back to the angle you want and let go to hold it there. Bring the backrest upright again before you drive.

How does the Maestro XXL fold?

It folds in about 5 seconds with nothing to take apart, and the handle under the seat gives you a grip for lifting. Take the batteries out first so you are lifting the frame on its own. We can walk you through the fold by phone.

Where can I ride it?

The four shock absorbers and large rear wheels are made for grass, gravel, uneven pavement and light snow as well as indoor floors. Take any slope slowly and straight on with the backrest upright. The maker publishes no slope rating or water resistance rating for the XXL, so keep it out of rain and standing water and call us before you plan on steep hills.

Can I move the joystick to the other side?

Yes. The joystick cable disconnects quickly and the joystick mounts on the left or the right armrest without tools.

Will it fit in my car?

The maker says the folded XXL suits most vehicle trunks but has not published its folded size or weight. The 24 in seat makes it wider than the other Maestro chairs, so call us with your trunk measurements and we will confirm the folded size before you order.

Can I fly with it?

The maker describes the Maestro XXL as suitable for air travel, buses, trains and cruise ships. Every airline sets its own rules for mobility aid batteries, so ask us for the battery rating and confirm with your airline before you book.

How is my chair delivered?

Delivery to your curb is free. Check the packaging and the chair before you sign for it, and call 1-888-233-5563 if anything looks wrong.

Can I pay over time?

Yes. Choose Klarna at checkout to pay over time. See how financing works.

Can I talk to someone before I buy?
